Double Minded

To be double minded means to be double souled or double spirited. Having two desires at the same time. The man of
two souls, who has one for earth, and another for heaven; who wishes to secure both worlds; he will not give up earth, and
he knows not to let heaven go. This was a usual term among the Jews, to express the man who attempted to worship God,
and yet retained the love of the creation.
A person who is double minded could have two job opportunities and be afraid to chose one.
Maybe they are invited to go to two different places by two different friends on any given weekend.
They don't want to make a decision because they want to go to both. Rather than choosing one and
enjoying the time they may try to make both functions. This causes the person to feel like they would miss out on something
if they only went to one event. Along with the feelings of letting someone down for not showing up.

Strongs 1374. dipsuchos, dip'-soo-khos two-spirited, i.e. vacillating (in opinion or purpose):--double
minded.
We must search deep on the inside to see where the desires come from that will cause us to not fulfill God's Word, Will,
and Ways. When we know what the word says but we want and do opposite we need prayer and deliverance.
Jas 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.
Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

We need to cry out for our desires to change when we see one eye on Heaven and another on fleshly things. When we find
ourselves in a battle of not wanting to let go of what He says let go of, we stop growing in the Lord. We have set up
another god in His place. Pleasure of sin, wants, dreams, desires that go against His will cause us to become double minded.
We cannot ask for His will to be done and still hold on to ours. This can and will cause mental illness in individual because
the mind becomes seared and the conscience becomes pierced. We know what to do, yet do not do it.
Tit 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every
good work reprobate.
Let us cry aloud with a Holy cry unto the King and ask Him for the desire to change, the strength to walk out the change
and the wisdom to hold on to it. Let us search ourselves and see where we are double minded and prepare ourselves to do
what Paul said. Php 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Col 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Jas 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

What does it mean to be double minded? It means having two desires and not being
able or willing to let one go, causing such a person to vacillate between two opinions.

1Ki 18:21 And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye
between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow
him. And the people answered him not a word.
